Elmore

Overview
The town of Elmore is set on the Campaspe river, on the Midland Highway it is only 40 minutes from Bendigo. Elmore is the gateway to the regions broad acre grain crops from Wheat to Canola and as a result has grain silos as one of the town’s iconic structures.
Each October more than 60,000 visitors flood the town for the annual Elmore Field Days which is Victoria’s oldest and largest agricultural expo.
History
Prior to European settlement Elmore was part of the Aboriginal migration trail. European settlement began with squatters in the 1830's and the 1850s gold rush saw further expansion to the township. In 1864 the Elmore train station opened on the Melbourne to Echuca line.
